โ€œThe image on the left came up on my husband's phone, and he showed it to me to encourage me on how far I have come. It took my breath away. I have avoided the camera at all cost most of my life so there arenโ€™t very many pictures available of me (one of the casualties of having a poor self image). But this one was taken.

The girl on the left was happy enough. Three of our four children got engaged the month before. My husband and I had started playing tennis again and joined a tennis club. But the truth is, she was tired. She was frustrated and felt like her body was broken. She was afraid of food because she had so many food rules in her head. She was pretty hopeless about her body ever changing.

2018 Susan was eating so very little and working out like a fiend. She wanted answers and thought there were none.

2021 Susan doesnโ€™t have a perfect life or a perfect body. But she is strong. She is healthy. She is making self care a priority and it shows."

Healthy Tuna ๐ŸŸ Stuffed Avocado ๐Ÿฅ‘
๐—ง๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฒ ๐—œ๐˜: 10 Mins
Yield: 4 to 8 servings
๐—œ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€:
4 avocados, halved and pitted
3 (4.5 oz) cans tuna, drained
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 jalapeno, minced
1 cup cilantro leaves, roughly chopped
1 lime, juiced
salt and pepper
๐—œ๐—ป๐˜€๐˜๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€:
Scoop out some of the avocado from the pitted area to widen the "bowl" area. Place the scooped avocado into a medium-size
mixing bowl. Mash it with a fork.

Add the tuna, bell pepper, jalapeno, and cilantro to the mixing bowl. Pour lime juice over. Stir it all together until everything is well mixed.

Scoop the tuna into the avocado bowls. Season with salt and pepper and dig in! Let me know if you are going to make this.

Adaptogens appear to do for your adrenal glands what exercise does for your muscles, Powell says. โ€œWhen we exercise, itโ€™s a stress on our body. When you take adaptogens, meanwhile, โ€œyouโ€™re training your body to handle the effects of stress.โ€

Powell says the plants do this by interacting with the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and the sympathoadrenal system, both of which are involved in the bodyโ€™s response to stress. Adaptogens may tweak hormone production and physiological responses to stress to ensure that your bodyโ€”from your mind to your immune system to your energy levelsโ€”functions as it should, Powell says.

Each adaptogen has a slightly different function, so the best one for you depends on the specific ailment youโ€™re experiencing, Powell says. Here are some common adaptogens and what they claim to be good for.
Adaptogens for long-term stress: Powell recommends ashwagandha and Asian ginseng to soothe long-term sources of stress and the hormone imbalances that may result from it.
