That nest under the porch ceiling did not appear overnight. Paper wasps started building in May, and by mid-June the queens are laying. Smaller than a fist this week, larger than a softball by July. The fix is easier and cheaper before they get defensive. Walk the perimeter, look up, and if you spot one, do not hit it with a broom. Call us and we will handle it without anyone getting stung.

Did you know most snakes you see around West Texas are not venomous? Bullsnakes, garter snakes, rat snakes. They keep mice down and stay out of the way. The ones to watch for are rattlesnakes and copperheads, and they tell on themselves with the rattle, the head shape, and where they sit. We get late-night calls about snakes year round. If you do not know what kind it is, do not handle it. Call us and we will come get it.
This is EXACTLY why keeping your oilfield facilities, yards, and corners clear of overgrown weeds and tumbleweeds is so important. These guys love a good hiding spot!
Don't worry, Affordable Pest Control always handles them safely and ensures they find a new, safe home far away from the job site.

Twenty years on the schedule. Not one bug. That is the kind of note that makes a Saturday morning. Lori has been an APC client since the early 2000s, and she still calls before she even thinks about looking online. We work hard for the relationships, not the transactions. Christian family-owned in Midland since 1999, and we mean it the way she does.

June heat moves scorpions out of cracks and into your house. We have already pulled them out of laundry rooms, garages, and one closet this week alone. Every West Texas summer they come looking for cool, dark, and quiet, and your home checks every box. Quick walk tonight: shake out shoes left on the porch, run a UV flashlight along baseboards, and seal any gap bigger than a pencil. If you are finding more than two indoors, it is time to call.

Did you know scorpions can live up to six years? That is why one bad summer in your yard can turn into multiple bad summers if the colony stays put. June is peak scorpion season in West Texas, and they are looking for cool, dark, quiet places to settle in. Garages, closets, behind couches, under beds. If you are seeing one indoors, there are usually more nearby. A summer treatment now keeps them from making themselves at home.
Two completely different vibes, one wall. 😳 The top one is an open paper wasp nest (usually pretty chill), but that bottom one is an enclosed yellowjacket nest (definitely NOT chill). Nature really decided to put these two right next to each other! Which one are you running away from first? 👇

If you have not checked the corners of your eaves, porch ceilings, and shed roofs lately, now is the moment.
Paper wasps start nest-building in late May across West Texas, and a nest that is the size of a quarter today can be the size of a tennis ball by Father's Day.
Two quick habits for the long weekend: walk the perimeter of your house with a flashlight in hand, and look up.
Any umbrella-shaped nest hanging from a stem is a wasp nest. Do not knock it down yourself.
A startled colony is a painful colony.
Message us and we will handle it safely, in one visit. Book a free inspection at the link in bio.
Meet the garden’s ultimate ninja: The Praying Mantis. 🥷🌿
While they might look like mini aliens plotting world domination, these incredible insects are actually some of the best eco-warriors on the planet. Here is why you always want them on your side:
Natural Pest Control: Skip the chemical sprays. Mantises are voracious predators that feast on aphid outbreaks, beetles, caterpillars, and mosquitoes.
Masters of Camouflage: They blend seamlessly into leaves and twigs, waiting for the perfect moment to strike with lightning-fast reflexes.
Perfect Balance: They keep insect populations in check, ensuring your backyard ecosystem stays healthy and thriving.
So next time you see one hanging out on a branch (or your finger!), don't freak out. Give them a little nod of respect. They’re on neighborhood watch duty. 🫡💚
