Our Niagara ... Once it was finally determined, after the carnage she had suffered during Hurricane Sally, that she was going to be salvaged, repaired--she was going to live!--the thought of buying a new(er) boat and turning her over to another couple who would sail her, learn from her, cherish her the way Phillip and I had, didn't sting quite so much. The reason Phillip and I had decided to buy a new boat was not because Plaintiff's Rest is not capable of sailing around the world, she is. Perhaps not as comfortably or safely as an Outbound 46, but, capable she is. And, our Niagara loves to go! She was built, and maintained, and trained to go. She deserves to go. And her new owners, Chris and Megan, deserve all that she has to offer in equal measure. With our last-minute New Years Eve flight to see the last remaining Outbound 46 available on the market, s/v Ubiquitous in Annapolis, Maryland booked, one thought kept ringing through my mind. “For offshore, we couldn’t have made a better choice," a former Outbound 46 owner had told us in the days prior. Phillip and I wouldn't know until we set foot aboard her, but everything about this boat was telling us she would not disappoint. "For offshore ... " I thought to myself as I dozed off on the plane. By her Phillip meant our new boat, our new home, our new adventure. It was a hypnotic day, when we first looked on yachtworld for an Outbound 46 and found one (ONLY ONE) was not yet under contract.
