Alcatraz Poetry
Ramblings of a man trapped within the inescapable prison that is his own mind.
You
I close my eyes at night hoping to wake from this fu**ed up dream
Staring blindly at the cieling, thoughts loud as f**k but silencing my screams
Is this s**t real?
Why can’t I feel?
You’re gone but at the same time you’re still here with me, haunting my every thought.
Every memory of you, being right there by my side for every fight I fought
Now I’m left all alone, me vs this world, a weary and tired army of one
Going on without you feels futile like fighting a bitter battle that can’t be won
You were my light
in my darkness
that helped me find the way
You were the life
raft that kept me
from sinking under the waves
Where am I supposed to go from here?
I don’t know up from down and
every day I have to try to conquer a new fear.
Without you with me, I got a lot of learning to do
A bandage wont fix this but let’s see what this bourbon can do
Looking at my life through the glass bottle is obscured
But s**t, it just might bring me clarity
When you left, I lost a one of a kind, though not perfect for sure
Flaws and all, even after your f**k ups you were still a rarity
You were my light
in my darkness
that helped me find the way
You were the life
raft that kept me
from sinking under the waves
