You can take the girl out of Paris, but you can’t take Paris out of the girl. Back in my French girl era!💁🏻♀️✂️✨

Getting married has looked a little different than I thought it would. It is fun and exciting to do life with your best friend, but marriage also has a way of revealing deep wounds that we operate out of, and can provide a safe space for them to heal… if we choose to do so. It’s having someone who will both call you out and cheer you on. There’s no other relationship like it - it is sacred and special, and it is so worth documenting the different seasons of it. This is a part of why I created this branch of Alice Mae Photography.♥️
These two love birds are coming up on their two year anniversary, and this evening of curating a date night and photographing them was so magical.✨

You have time. You don’t need to push your limits as if you don’t.
American culture is particularly guilty of unhealthy hustle, and it causes many people to live in a constant state of both physical and mental stress. Prominent people in the medical industry warn about the risks of this - not only are you more susceptible to viruses and pathogens that get you sick, but in the long run it leads to ruining your heart, autoimmune disease, anxiety, depression and more.
I am a 110% go-getter the majority of the time. I thrive when I have a routine and get started on my to-do list early in the day. Growing up on farms and learning how to care for animals and plants, I developed a work ethic that most kids don’t develop until post high school/college.
Yesterday was not one of those go-getter days.
I woke up with my neck in pain. Not only that, but I realized how much my entire body was still recovering after a very physically straining few days, and my brain was lagging with it. I could feel that with the amount of stress my body had been under, it was extremely susceptible to sickness - I was on the verge.
I had one meeting, took care of a couple things, and decided my to-do list would wait. Pushing myself was going to lead to getting sick… it always has.
This morning I woke up so thankful that I chose to pause yesterday. Being “productive” would have wound up being a setback that would have led to me having to take more time off to recover from illness. In the past I’ve been guilty of ignoring the signs, and I’m proud of myself for not doing that this time.
If you walked into this week and into the new year with high standards and great expectations for yourself, but things aren’t going as planned…
You have time.
Take the day off to rest. Restructure your workflow. Revisit your list. Pick the two things that HAVE to get done, and let the rest wait.
You have time.

If you’re working from home and struggling to jumpstart your work day, I have a few tips for you for tomorrow morning!
1. If you don’t already have a physical planner, get one. Physically writing things down holds me more accountable than any app or calendar on my phone ever does! The night before, write down the 2-3 things you absolutely HAVE to get done the next day. Check them off as you go. It makes your day feel much less daunting, and anything you get done in addition to those 2-3 tasks is a bonus!
Check out my blog for more tips to jumpstart your work day!
Cheers!✨
