VFZ Spotlight: Zion & Ms. Oliver 💙

One of the most rewarding parts of our Violence Free Zone program is witnessing the relationships that form between Youth Advisors and students.

This year, freshman Zion and her Youth Advisor, Ms. Oliver, built a special bond rooted in patience, trust, and encouragement. Through challenges and triumphs alike, Ms. Oliver remained a steady source of support, helping Zion build confidence and develop new skills.

One day, while Ms. Oliver was out sick, Zion stopped by the VFZ office looking for her. After learning she wasn't there, Zion quietly wrote "I love you" on several pieces of paper and placed them around Ms. Oliver's desk so she would see them when she returned.

It was a simple gesture, but a powerful reminder of the impact caring adults can have in the lives of young people. We are so proud of Zion's growth and grateful for Youth Advisors like Ms. Oliver who show up every day with compassion and dedication.

Next Month, MCC is hosting a Safe Summer Block Party to connect young adults and families with local resources, mentorship opportunities, and programs that support safer neighborhoods and brighter futures.
