A new HGA-designed "campus landmark” at Case Western Reserve University was approved by Cleveland’s Planning Commission. Construction on the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building will start later this year. The new facility increases the amount and quality of innovative research space. John Frane, design principal with HGA, has been selected as a judge for ARCHITECT magazine’s 2024 Architecture and Interiors Awards. With a strong background in visual and performing arts, as well as teaching positions at the USC School of Architecture, UC Berkeley and Tulane, he brings a high level of design expertise to the judging panel. Archinect features the top green projects and sustainability innovations of 2023, with highlights focusing on decarbonization, successful applications of sustainability principles, material research, and policy implementation. Located in the Friendship Heights neighborhood of Chevy Chase, Maryland, the Heights Food Hall is now open. Designed by HGA and developed by Common Plate Hospitality, the hall is an elevated culinary experience reminiscent of the Washington, D.C. trolley system that moved people between downtown Washington, D.C. and the suburbs. The Child, Adolescent, and Adult Behavioral Health Services Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center will be the first Santa Clara County-operated inpatient facility specifically for children and adolescents in need of behavioral health services.
