🌟 Why I Started Painting Rocks: The Story Behind Mitchell SD Rocks 🌟
​Have you ever found a brightly painted rock hidden in a park, on a bench, or along a sidewalk and felt an instant smile spread across your face? That exact feeling is the reason this group exists.
​People often ask me, "Why rocks?" For me, it started with a simple belief: small acts of kindness can change the trajectory of someone’s entire day. Life can be heavy, unpredictable, and overwhelming at times. We don't always know what the person next to us is going through. But a single stone—painted with vibrant colors, a cheerful design, or a word of affirmation—is a quiet, gentle reminder that they aren't alone, that they are seen, and that they matter.
​It's More Than an Art Project; It's a Movement
​I didn't start painting rocks just to be artistic. I started because:
​It Connects Us: In a world that spends so much time behind screens, hiding and finding rocks gets us outside, exploring our beautiful town, and interacting with one another.
​It’s "Guerrilla Kindness": There is something incredibly joyful about leaving a little piece of hope behind for a complete stranger to find.
​Anyone Can Do It: You don’t have to be a master artist. A simple splash of color or a kind word is all it takes to make a difference.
​Every time I sit down with a paintbrush, I wonder whose hands that rock will end up in. I wonder if the person who finds it will be exactly the person who needed that specific message on that specific day.
