🦋 The Weight of Wings: A Moment with Two Monarchs

Today, I came across two monarch butterflies on the ground, tethered together—delicate, still, and vulnerable. I didn’t know if they were alive. I gently blew a breath of air toward them.

One flew off instantly, strong and sure of its wings.
The other stayed behind, struggling. Stuck. Grounded.

So I found some cardboard and a stick—whatever the earth had to offer—and lifted it. Slowly, carefully. And when the moment was right, it took flight again.

I didn’t know what I was doing, but I knew I couldn’t leave it behind.
And maybe that’s what life and love and healing are really about:

Sometimes, we’re the one who flies.
Sometimes, we’re the one still catching our breath.
And sometimes—we’re the hand, the wind, the cardboard, the stick.

None are lesser.
All are sacred.
