Letโs talk about the real history of the American school systemโnot the one in textbooks. The one designed before your children ever walked through the door. Because it wasnโt built to educate. It was built to condition.

The modern U.S. public school system was shaped in the 1800s by men like Horace Mann and later John D. Rockefeller. Mann believed education should mold obedient citizens.
Rockefeller took it furtherโhe funded and formalized the General Education Board in 1903 and famously said:
โI donโt want a nation of thinkers. I want a nation of workers.โ
The goal? Create dependable labor for industrial capitalismโclock in, clock out, donโt ask questions.

Bell schedules copied from factories.
Rigid seating, silent compliance.
Memorize, regurgitate, forget.
Little room for self-governance, questioning systems, or spiritual discernment.
Children were trained to follow, not to think. To prepare for wage dependence, not generational freedom.

That back-to-school list doesnโt just ask for supplies. It asks for your childโs mind, heart, and conscience. Weโve handed our children over to a system that doesnโt love themโthen wondered why they come back anxious, confused, and disconnected from truth.

๐ฆ The Weight of Wings: A Moment with Two Monarchs
Today, I came across two monarch butterflies on the ground, tethered togetherโdelicate, still, and vulnerable. I didnโt know if they were alive. I gently blew a breath of air toward them.
One flew off instantly, strong and sure of its wings.
The other stayed behind, struggling. Stuck. Grounded.
So I found some cardboard and a stickโwhatever the earth had to offerโand lifted it. Slowly, carefully. And when the moment was right, it took flight again.
I didnโt know what I was doing, but I knew I couldnโt leave it behind.
And maybe thatโs what life and love and healing are really about:
Sometimes, weโre the one who flies.
Sometimes, weโre the one still catching our breath.
And sometimesโweโre the hand, the wind, the cardboard, the stick.
None are lesser.
All are sacred.
๐๏ธ
Let this be a reminder:
Even wings need help sometimes.
And freedom doesnโt always look like flying alone.
It looks like showing up for whatโs grounded.
It looks like lifting the thing that still believes it was made to soar.

The Cajun heritage is a testament to resilience and the unbreakable spirit of people who have withstood the test of time and adversity. Originating from the Acadian exiles, who were forced from their homes in what is now Canada, the Cajuns found refuge in the bayous and swamps of southern Louisiana in the mid-18th century. Despite being uprooted and dispersed, they clung to their Roman Catholic faith and French language, creating a tight-knit community that thrived in isolation.
Their history is marked by the Great Upheaval or Expulsion, a traumatic event where thousands were deported, imprisoned, and separated from their families by the British. Many perished, but those who survived carried with them an indomitable will to rebuild and preserve their culture against all odds. Settling in Louisiana, they adapted to their new environment, blending their traditions with those of their new home to form the unique Cajun culture we know today.
The Cajunsโ struggle for identity continued through the American Civil War and the industrial revolution, facing pressures of assimilation and cultural erosion. Yet, they emerged victorious, reclaiming their proud heritage and establishing a culture that is a hybrid of their Acadian roots and the modern United States.
This rich background of overcoming hardship and maintaining a strong sense of community and identity is what makes the Cajun heritage a powerful symbol of being unbreakable. Itโs a legacy of fighting for oneโs beliefs, standing firm in the face of challenges, and flourishing despite adversity. Valor Vines' vision, inspired by this heritage, embody these values of strength, resilience, and unwavering faith. ๐ฟ๐ฅ๐ธ
