Please join us in congratulating the winners of the Moline Police Benevolent Association Unit #2 Captain Art Gustus Scholarship Award that is awarded to three Moline-Coal Valley School District graduates that are pursuing careers in service fields.

We received dozens of applications and we can assure all of Moline that our future is extremely bright with the young adults in our community.

It was a very tough process to select just three, but our three winners are:

Overall winner: Elle Spence

During her time at Moline High School, Elle was President of Sports Unlimited-2 years (participant all four years), Special Olympics-Student Coach 2 years (involved all 4 years), Special Olympics Unified Partner, The Gray Matters Collective-Treasurer and one of original Founders at Moline, National Honor Society, LINK Crew Leader, Crime Stoppers of MHS, Moline Volleyball team (3 years), Moline Diving Team and winner of the Frank Boothe award, selected as a Junior Rotarion and volunteers at the animal shelter.

Elle will continue her academic career at Illinois State University where she will pursue a degree in Special Education, with an emphasis as a Learning and Behavior Specialist

Runner Up: Riley Fuller

During his time at Moline High School, Riley
2 time All-State, All Western Big 6 Conference, Metro Player of the Year, Illinois Pacesetter for Moline High School Football. All Conference selection for Moline Baseball and Conference Player of the Year.

Riley works at Moline YMCA as Youth Leader. Is an active volunteer in the community, including for the Moline Police Department’s active shooter training.

Riley will continue his baseball and academic career at Black Hawk College before continuing on to a 4-year university/college to play baseball and pursue a Doctorate in Medicine.

Runner Up(not pictured): Corynn Holmes

During her time at Moline High School Corynn was President of the Minority Leaders of Tomorrow, Student Ambassador for the Moline High School Student Advisory Board, Moline Rotary Club, Student Board Member for the Moline-Coal Valley School District Board of Education, President of National Honor Society, Team Captain of Moline Girls Track and 3 time All State selection in 100 m hurdles and high jump.

Corynn will be attending the prestigious Howard University with a major in social work where she will pursue a career in advocating for underserved communities while striving for unification for all.

Congratulations to the winners, we know that each of you will do great things to make our community better for all.
