Leticia was always drawn to the idea of helping others within her career. As a Cardiac Sonographer with Gritman Diagnostic Imaging, she performs cardiac ultrasounds — also known as echocardiograms.

These crucial exams produce images of the heart that are read by the cardiology team at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene to help diagnose and monitor heart conditions.

Leticia started her career at Kootenai Health and worked there for four years before moving to Genesee and joining the Gritman Team almost three years ago. While researching local hospitals, Gritman was recommended to her by multiple people, including a cardiologist she was working with at Kootenai. After her interview with Debbie Hancock, Director of Diagnostic Imaging, Leticia knew Gritman would be a great fit for her.

“It brings me joy when patients get excited when they remember me from previous visits or tell me that I really made their experience here at Gritman enjoyable,” she said.

Leticia is one of two Echo Ultrasound Technologists on staff. The team sees any inpatients and Emergency Department patients between scheduled outpatient appointments.

“Some critical access hospitals do not have an Echo Tech or Cardiac Sonographer on staff, so we are happy to be able to provide that service and see as many patients that we are able to see,” she said.

Outside of work, Leticia loves to travel, read, craft and spend time with her husband, Jack, and two dogs.

Thank you, Leticia, for your commitment to treating patients with compassionate care and for providing this important service in our community.

Earlier this year, students from Garfield-Palouse High School filmed scenes for a student film project at our Downtown Clinic as part of their audio/visual class.

The Gritman Downtown Clinic lobby was one of many locations around the Palouse the students used for filming their “Fast and The Furious-style" movie that is parts serious, heartwarming and humorous. The completed film was shown to Gar-Pal High School students at the end of the school year.

We are proud to support these local students and future filmmakers, and glad we could play a small part in their educational journey. Go Vikings!
