Burlington County, in cooperation with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) is developing a plan to replace the Parkers Creek Bridge (Bridge C4.13).
The bridge is located at the border of Moorestown and Mount Laurel on Centerton Road, near Laurel Creek Country Club Golf Course. The County plans to replace the existing 32-foot arch bridge with a single-span, 85-foot prestressed concrete box beam structure supported by deep foundations. As part of the proposed project, the roadway will be widened to accommodate two 12-foot lanes, two 8-foot right shoulders, and a 10-foot shared-use path along the southern side of the project.
The bridge was originally constructed in 1906 and was reconstructed and widened in 1957. It is currently rated as structurally deficient, scour critical and functionally obsolete, and recommendations are that it be replaced.
The replacement project is currently in the Preliminary Design Phase.
A Public Information Meeting about the replacement project will be held on April 7th, from 6 PM to 8 PM at Burlington County Engineer’s Office, 1900 Briggs Road, Mount Laurel. During the meeting, Burlington County officials and engineers will provide an update on the proposed project plan, bridge conditions, proposed traffic controls and anticipated construction schedule.
All members of the public are welcome to attend and ask questions about the project. Written comments may also be submitted for inclusion in the project record until April 24th. Following the April 7th meeting, the presentation will be posted online on the County website and both Mount Laurel and Moorestown websites.
