Whether or not you live in Rutherford County…the first five minutes of this video should do two things: inform you and p**s you off. The State Legislature had the opportunity to give local governments the option to impose taxes on new building in order to offset the cost of increasing infrastructure to support growth. This would put the lion’s share of the infrastructure cost burden on new construction, and remove the burden from property tax payers. As you can imagine, the developer and real estate lobby was very much against this. Watch the video to see what happened.

One of Rutherford County’s own delegation was instrumental in defeating the bill on behalf of his friends in real estate.
