We have always found it terribly hard to figure out how much a home project costs, so after years of experience here are some helpful tips to take to help determine how much you should pay.

1. Always ask for a line item description of the service and the related cost of each line item, including labor cost.
2. Cost of materials can be sourced on your own once you know how much you will need.
3. Get multiple quotes. My rule of thumb is 5. This usually gives you a good sample to compare against.
4. Ask your social network how much they paid.
5. Always negotiate. never accept the first price, there is always room to negotiate.
6. One important factor to consider is the reputation and quality of the professional contractor. Someone who has a great reputation for exceptional work will be more expensive
