Adams Acres may be fictional, but its roots are very real.

The landscapes in this story were shaped by places I’ve visited and spent time in. Cornfields stretching under open skies, winding back roads, weathered farmhouses, and the kind of silence that seems to hold old stories.

Some of that inspiration came from Upstate New York, where rural beauty has a way of feeling both peaceful and haunted by memory. And yes, Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, is a real place, and part of the heart of this story too.

I’ve always believed places carry emotional residue. Joy. Grief. Conflict. Love. The family farm in The Sisters of Adams Acres became more than a setting; it became a character itself, holding secrets, wounds, and perhaps even the possibility of healing.

Hello, I’m JoAnn Reed.

I’m a mother, grandmother, and author who writes stories about life, love, loss, and the strength it takes to keep moving forward.

My writing journey began with my memoir, Nine Lives: The Heartbreak of Addiction, which shares the deeply personal story of my son’s struggle with addiction and the impact it had on our family. Writing that book opened the door for me to speak about grief, healing, and the realities many families face.
