After having some time to carefully retouch and refine these images, I wanted to share two of my favorite Milky Way photographs from my recent night at Cherry Springs State Park.
Cherry Springs is one of Pennsylvania’s true dark-sky treasures, and once the clouds cleared that evening, the sky opened into a remarkable view of the Milky Way. These images are the result of preparation, practice, patience, and a fair amount of post-processing work to bring out what the camera was able to capture in that dark sky.
The first image gives a closer, more intimate view of the Milky Way stretching above the tree line. The second is a wider panoramic view showing the sweep of the galaxy across the night sky.
For me, astrophotography is both technical and personal. It requires planning, careful exposure, field technique, and detailed editing — but it also reconnects me with memories of seeing dark skies as a child in Kansas. Nights like this remind me why I continue to pursue photography not only for clients, but also for the personal work that sharpens my eye and expands my skills.
Cherry Springs gave me an outstanding night under the stars, and these are two of the best images I brought home.

In addition to my work for clients, I continue to enjoy photography as a personal creative pursuit.
Last night, I photographed the Milky Way at Cherry Springs State Park, one of Pennsylvania’s outstanding dark-sky locations. It was a reminder that photography is not only about the final image, but also about preparation, observation, patience, and problem-solving in the field.
Personal projects like this help expand my skills. They push me to work in challenging conditions, refine my technical process, and think creatively about light, timing, composition, and post-processing.
Those lessons carry over into client work in ways that are not always predictable. Whether photographing people, facilities, events, products, or aerial scenes, the ability to adapt to changing conditions is central to creating strong images.
Photography remains both my profession and my personal source of exploration.

Last week I had the opportunity to attend MARS (Mid-Atlantic Regional School of Professional Photography) and study compositing with internationally recognized artist and educator Richard Sturdevant.
This image is Richard’s class of students after an intensive week of learning advanced compositing, visual storytelling, lighting integration, and creative problem solving. Programs like MARS are a reminder that professional photography is a continual process of education, experimentation, and growth.
I appreciate the opportunity to learn alongside so many talented photographers from across the country and look forward to applying these concepts in future work through RSB Photo Media.

This week I had the pleasure of photographing the health programs at Phoebe Berks in Wernersville, Pennsylvania, and seeing firsthand the energy, encouragement, and community that make these programs so meaningful.
On the same beautiful early spring day, I was also able to capture aerial photography and videography of the Phoebe Berks campus. With the grounds beginning to come alive in spring, it was a wonderful time to show both the people and the place that help make this community special.
Great people, a beautiful vision, a wonderful facility, and a long-awaited spring day—what could be better for a professional photographer?
Later this month, I will be photographing similar programs and environments at three additional Phoebe Ministries facilities, and I look forward to continuing to tell that story through images.

I’m happy to share another step in my photography journey.
After receiving my M.Photog. degree from PPA, I was honored to join the American Society of Photographers (ASP) at their invitation. I recently entered the ASP Images of Distinction Competition, where I submitted eight images, and five of them merited, earning scores of 80 or above.
The attached image was my highest scoring entry, receiving an 83 out of 100. I especially appreciate its soft, ethereal quality, subtle tones, and the layered elegance of the flower itself.
What I found most valuable, though, was the recorded feedback on every image. The comments were consistently constructive and instructive, and I believe they will be of great long-term value as I continue refining both my image creation and my processing.
That kind of professional critique is one of the most valuable aspects of competition. It not only recognizes the work, but also helps guide future growth.
In this new video, I talk about why one headshot is rarely enough and why professionals often benefit from building a portfolio of portraits for their different roles, audiences, and messages. Whether you are a business leader, consultant, speaker, creative professional, or active in your community, your images should help communicate who you are and how you want to be seen.
I invite you to watch the video, then visit the RSB Photo Media website and page to learn more about how we help businesses, organizations, and professionals create imagery that communicates with purpose.

I’m very pleased and grateful to share that my work received two honors at Inspire 2026.
My image “One More, Mom,” was selected for a Judge’s Choice Award, and I also received a 320 Award for a portfolio of four images that each merited with scores of 80 or higher.
It’s encouraging when work is recognized by respected, trained judges and peers. These awards also remind me why I care so much about photography: creating images that carry meaning, emotion, and story that benefit the lives and businesses of my clients.
I appreciate the opportunity to keep learning, growing, and sharing this love for photography with withe my PPA of PA community.
Thank you to everyone who has supports my journey.
