Our team was invited to speak to a class of New York MBA students led by adjunct professor Martin Behr about current trends in e-commerce, COVID-19’s impact on its various market segments and shifts taking place in business strategies within each one.

Martin Ken Behr is a customs and international trade lawyer admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, and before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the U.S. Court of International Trade and a licensed U.S. Customs Broker.

Martin is a former special agent with the U.S. Department of Defense, assistant prosecutor with the Office of the Hudson County (NJ) Prosecutor, and executive with a global FMC-licensed Ocean Transportation Intermediary.

He has worked as a U.S. Customs officer (senior inspector and import specialist), who was stationed at land, air and sea ports of entry. While with U.S. Customs at the Port of New York/Newark, he was a member of the agency's export control branch.

What you will do
- Load and unload deliveries and shipment of all products and supplies
- Sort, count and visually inspect pallets and cases during receiving and report to the Team Lead
- Examine outbound shipments to ensure that they meet routing requirements
- Examine incoming shipments, reject damaged cases and report shortages to the Team Lead
- Build pallets, accurately label cases on them following set procedures and carrier requirements
- Move and store pallets across various facility zones
- Assist the pick & pack team by moving staged orders to the loading dock for carrier pickups
- Adhere to all the safety measures and abide to follow the rules and regulations at the
workplace
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area
- Perform other duties as assigned

About you
- Prior warehouse or fulfillment facility operations related experience is preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs without restriction
- Ability to stand and walk continuously during and up to an 8 hour shift
- Demonstrate high attention to detail
- Be diligent, punctual and able to follow daily schedules
- Consistently arrive for work on time
- Have prior experience in handling manual pallet jacks and other essential tools and equipment

- Sort, count and reject damaged product units
- Pull and pack product based on daily orders
- Prepare product for shipping in accordance with set procedures and customer requirements
- Properly use packaging materials and tools
- Pack, weigh, and label completed items for shipment or storage
- Transport product to appropriate zone by using appropriate tools and equipment
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area
- Adhere to all the safety measures and abide to follow the rules and regulations at the
workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned

About you
- Extremely detail-oriented and attentive
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs without restriction
- Ability to stand and walk continuously during and up to an 8 hour shift
- Knowledge of warehouse equipment, tools and materials is highly preferred
- Ability to quickly understand new processes and identify operational opportunities
- Flexible to work in a busy work environment
- Basic computer skills
- Must be at least 18 years old
