There are moments in rescue work that remind you exactly why you do this — and this past Saturday was one of them.
We had the privilege of volunteering at the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC)'s vaccine clinic in Brooklyn. Such a turnout! Dog owners showed up with tiny dogs tucked under arms, big dogs, puppies, seniors, and every wonderful breed in between — all there because they love their animals and want the very best for them.
Thanks to the incredible work of Positive Tails and Dr. Gordon, each of those dogs left protected with vaccines — and microchipped, giving their owners one more layer of security should they ever get lost. That reduces the animals' that stay at the shelter 🙌
We were lucky to work alongside long-time friends Ann of Canine King and Lydia and Perla of Sit Stay Dog Training. Ann and Lydia who were fielding every training and behavior question with patience and expertise, while making sure every single dog was outfitted with a properly fitted harness and leash before heading home.
It's the kind of teamwork that makes you proud to be part of this community.
Our team got to do what we love most — connecting with people and their dogs over enrichment. We shared, explained, and handed out Kongs, Topples, Snuffle Mats, Licki Mats, and yes — flirt poles (always a crowd favorite!). Seeing the curiosity and excitement on both the dogs' and owners' faces as they discovered something new made every moment worthwhile.
Access to quality care, education, and resources shouldn't be a luxury — it should be available to every dog and every family, in every neighborhood. Events like this are how we make that vision real, one dog at a time.
We are so grateful to everyone who came out, every partner who showed up, and every tail that wagged its way through that clinic. 🐾
