We love seeing these happy faces! 💚
Thank you to everyone at Bregal Investments, EY, the New York Power Authority and our Associate Board for coming out to support our CEA students last week! You can tell from the pics that our students REALLY valued this experience, going over their CV and cover letters with you, getting job interview practice and advice on next steps after graduation.
Thank you so much for contributing your time and enthusiasm to our community!

What would happen to plants if the sun never set? 🌞
Some of our clever Farmer Scientists over at PS 281 The River School set out to find out! 🤔
As their group's research experiment for next week's Youth Conference, fifth graders Julianna, Miracle, Emi, and Salem chose to trick their plants into thinking the sun never sets and measure the results.
To do this, the group tested how plants respond to zero, 12, and 24 hours of light exposure per day. They controlled the light duration using timers and by placing black buckets over specific seedlings.
Their teacher, Tyler Sanders, has seen his students’ interest grow alongside their radishes. When he offered the opportunity to his students to present at the Youth Conference, "There were no questions asked. It’s amazing and rewarding to see students who are so self-motivated,” said Sanders.
The students have learned how to share the workload as a team as they prepare for the conference. “I’m nervous about learning the lines,” Salem admitted. Between shared smiles of understanding, Salem’s teammates reassured her until she couldn’t help but grin, too.
We can't wait to find out the results of their experiment NEXT THURSDAY at the NY Sun Works Youth Conference! 🌱
