Meet the neighbors who make our communities stronger. ✨ Stories of Welcome is a new series from Refugee Council USA, shining a light on newcomers who are helping communities thrive.

Meet Kamila, a talented cook from Afghanistan who resettled in Brattleboro, Vermont, after fleeing the Taliban. With support from the Multicultural Community Center of the Ethiopian Community Development Council, she launched a pop-up eatery to share Afghan delicacies with her new neighbors. Now operating as Kamila’s Kitchen Vermont, she not only enriches the local culture but also embodies the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of refugees.
