Responding to an artist’s need for space to showcase work, the Artist Studios project envisions a building that performs in two ways—as a place for the production of art and as a space for the exhibition of art.

The design uses four separate spaces that have the capability to function as spatially independent artist studios, as well as interconnected exhibition spaces that create a continuous sequence of staggered spaces from cellar to roof terrace.

The private programs of the house, such as the bedrooms and family room, are located on the upper level, while the public spaces of the house, such as the kitchen, living room and dining room are located on the lower level.
