I will be at the gallery tomorrow afternoon and Saturday. Saturday there be a printmaking workshop for kids run by me from 2-4pm, hosted by 💫

Enjoy part 2 of the gallery tour of my work in “WayWeSeeIt”currently at the West Gallery of :

Swiveling into the room, you will see two sculptural objects.
The first one is called ‘WhatADrag’ and is entirely put together from studio detritus.
This airy construction fascinated me because it felt like a ‘drawing in space’.
It is an expression of a feeling that, no matter how light and whimsical some days can feel, there is always something holding us down. It can hold us back, it can weigh on us, it can be a drag, but it can also be an anchor, that allows us to freely explore and be safe. Something’s got our back. The drag can be an opportunity, not just a problem.

Behind this, we find ‘TerraInfirma(MotherCourage)’ on the second pedestal.
Quite a few of my works, especially the found object sculptures, deal with fragility, vulnerability and destabilization. I wanted to give this piece a feel of a beach cairn, stones loosely stacked upon one another, finding balance.
As often, this benign concept veered off into more edge territory.
‘TerraInfirma’ began talking about the shaky ground we planted our flag on and then took a turn into yet another, quite literally, burning issue.
I saw a similar wagon Mother Courage was dragging around behind herself during the 30-year War in Europe and the piece began to address the upheaval of war, forced to pile all that is left of your belongings and beliefs onto a rickety cart, disowned, displaced, destroyed, barely held together. Looking to find aid and stability elsewhere.

Last weekend of Art Lives Here : Collecting at Westbeth Gallery. Last Day Sunday September 15.
I will be at the gallery tomorrow , 9/14 from 3-6pm.

This slideshow shows the smaller, more affordable work : a series of five small 3” x 3” wood panels called ‘AlwaysGreener” 1-5, available individually or as groups. ‘KeepSwimming’ is a 6”x6” work on wood panel and ‘IntoTheUnknown’ is a diptych of two 6”x12” works on panel, available individually or as a diptych.
These are very affordably priced for this occasion, if interested contact for .
