Today's sermon: "Life after Baptism." In Matthew's story of Jesus' baptism (3:13-17) John the Baptist conveys to Jesus that John should be the one RECEIVING baptism from Jesus. After all, what sins had Jesus committed? Jesus' incarnation indicates God's interest in the redemption of all humanity. For Jesus, his baptism marked a beginning of ministry, of a commitment to fulfilling all righteousness that woudl lead him to suffering, death, and resurrection.
Merry Christmas! Today we sang many carols and read the beautiful Christmas narrative from Luke's gospel. Sermon title: "All This in a Child?"
