Trumah also means "an elevated gift."
In this parasha, G-d commands the Israelites to bring a gift towards the building of the tabernacle. Why does He need gifts from us mortals? The truth is that He doesn't. All along, Bene Israel received everything that they needed from Hashem which made them dependent. When you are always the receiver, you look down on yourself. This time, the Israelites were given the opportunity to give back what they wanted from their heart.
This Shabbat, what gift would you give to yourself, your family, your friends and to Hashem?

This Shabbat, we read Parashat Terumah, where G-d gives specific instructions on how to build the Mishkan (Tabernacle). It is made, so He has a dwelling place among His People. Although, why do you think G-d needs a dwelling place. Isn't he Omniscient? Isn't His Throne lie high up in Heaven? The idea is that G-d doesn't dwell in the building but in the hearts of the builders. It's more so for Bene Israel to know how accessible G-d was. He wasn't far up in the sky but right there with them, every step of the way.
