For 140,000 New Yorkers, rent-stabilized housing is a lifeline amidst rising unaffordability. New data from Robin Hood's Poverty Tracker shows rent-stabilization reduces the poverty rate among tenants by 25%.
More than 40% of all NYC renters live in these apartments β and they're disproportionately the city's most vulnerable: long-term residents, elderly households, people whose health limits their ability to work. But affordability still isn't guaranteed.
