From our “Extrasensory” shorts block, FRACTAL directed by Anslem Richardson.✨
This short fantasy-sci-fi film centers on the tight-knit relationship of a Deaf 8-year-old African-American boy named Tamir and his 14-year-old brother, Cameron. Orphaned, they live with their grandmother, who struggles to understand and communicate in the boys’ unique Black American Sign Language (BASL). When police violence takes someone he loves, Tamir finds solace through an unlikely friendship with a mysterious alien creature, who helps him cope with his trauma and forge a way forward.
FRACTAL and the full “Extrasensory” block featuring films that blur the distinction between reality and imagination will screen in-person at Suzanne Roberts Theatre on August 2nd at 6PM and online at 7:30PM. Tickets are available at the link in our bio or visit blackstarfest.org/festival!

New Moon Studios is the only local Taiwanese studio with a majority pivot towards the West's Visual Effects.
