PBGEN. TUAN̈O SETS A NEW STANDARD OF VISIBILITY AND DISCIPLINE IN WESTERN VISAYAS

In law enforcement, leadership is often tested not only by the strength of operations on the ground but also by the clarity of communication with the public.

In Western Visayas, the early days of PBGen. Randulf Tuaño as Director of Police Regional Office 6 signal a leadership style that places equal weight on visibility, discipline and public trust.

Tuaño, who previously served as the Philippine National Police spokesperson, is no stranger to managing information in high-pressure situations.

Now, he brings that experience into regional command, where communication is not just about messaging, but about building confidence between the police and the communities they serve.

One of his earliest directives reflects this approach, emphasizing proper engagement with the media and the importance of timely and accurate information dissemination.

In his statement, Tuaño underscored:

“The Police Regional Office 6, under my leadership as Acting Regional Director, remains committed to strengthening transparency, accountability, and meaningful partnership with the media in Western Visayas.

I encourage all Chiefs of Police and unit commanders to ensure timely, coordinated, and responsible engagement with the media regarding crime-related incidents and public safety concerns within their respective areas of responsibility. The timely release of accurate information is essential in maintaining public trust and preventing misinformation.

Having previously served as a PNP spokesperson, I deeply value the important role of the media in public service and in keeping our communities informed.

Even while details are still being validated, personnel are encouraged to provide prompt acknowledgment or initial updates whenever possible. Such responsiveness promotes openness, trust, mutual respect, and continued professionalism in our engagement with media partners in service to the public.

The Philippine National Police PRO6 remains steadfast in delivering responsive, reliable, and people-centered service guided by integrity, accountability, and respect.”

This message sets the tone for his leadership in PRO6 — disciplined in operations, but equally committed to transparency in communication.

It reflects an understanding that in modern policing, silence or delay can often create misinformation, while timely engagement strengthens public confidence.

As Western Visayas continues to face evolving peace and order challenges, Tuaño’s approach signals a shift toward a more responsive and communication-driven police leadership.

His emphasis on discipline within the ranks and openness to the public marks a leadership model that seeks not only to enforce the law but also to earn trust.

PBGen. Tuaño’s leadership is beginning to define a simple but powerful standard: a police force that is visible in action and accountable in word.
