It's our honor to introduce Nikole from Canada!
https://psychask.com/expert/111

Nikole is a certified ADHD Specialist with 6 years of experience.

Nikole's self introduction:

After a childhood that featured numerous academic and social problems, I was finally diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 19. I immediately began learning, formally and experientially, everything I could about ADHD. I was fortunate to find professionals willing to train me, and I continue with formal training even now, as research continues to uncover answers about ADHD that we haven’t had before.

School, work, relationships, family, changing doctors, multiple medication and dosage changes, co-morbid conditions - these are only a few of the more common issues that having ADHD turns into adventures. I’ve been there, and have come out successfully on the other side, largely through awareness, strategic planning, self-advocacy, and building a support network.

Although I specialize solely in ADHD (much in the way that I appreciate the knowledge and experience of every physician, if I need heart surgery, I go to a cardiologist, not a neurologist) I do also work with the non-ADHD family and even employers of people with ADHD...as much as ADHD affects the individual, it also affects those around him/her and there is almost never any support/information offered to them.

Since ADHD affects every aspect of a person’s life, it can sometimes appear to be overwhelming; but it doesn’t have to be. There are so many joys to be found in having ADHD - you don’t want to miss them!

I am a psychologist, executive coach, life coach, and ADHD coach. I work with both individuals and groups. My consulting and coaching practice, Integrated Life Path Coaching is based in Northern Virginia and the Washington D.C. metro area. I also travel frequently to my client sites both within the US and internationally. I am a frequent speaker at professional organizations and conferences and have published numerous articles and books.

One of my key strengths is integrating mindfulness practices into my coaching activities. I am a meditator of over 40 years and have developed simple yet effective approaches to bringing mindfulness practices into the lives of individuals of all ages who want to improve on their ability to remain focused on the task at hand and achieve their life goals.

That's what I 'DO'. Who I 'AM' is someone with a passion for personal and interpersonal development - mine and yours. I believe in my deepest being that it is in relation to others that we find ourselves. If we are brave,
courageous and aware we can use every moment of every day as an opportunity for personal growth and to improve the world we live in. This is the work i want to do with you and your organization.

SOME INFORMATION ABOUT ADHD, ADD OR EXECUTIVE FUNCIONING LIMITATIONS ADD, ADHD and EFD are all labels for neurological weaknesses that affect the areas of the brain related to self-regulation of behavior and emotions. Approximately 15% of youths and 5% of adults are affected by limitations in
executive functioning capabilities.

Executive functioning limitations may arise at any time in life. They may be genetic in origin and arise in childhood or later. But they may also be the result of any number of occurrences such as physical trauma or medical conditions.

Some individuals with executive functioning limitations, especially those who are gifted, may successfully navigate the early stages of their lives and only experience significant impairment later, in more unstructured and challenging aspects of their lives such as college and the work environment.

The good news for individuals with executive functioning limitations is that these limitations can be improved upon, often significantly, through training the mind in methods that improve cognitive functioning as well as unlearning negative compensatory attitudes and behaviors. It is especially possible to learn techniques to compensate for executive functioning limitations.

You can benefit from working with me if you experience any of these characteristics of ADHD, ADD or executive functioning limitations

• Difficulty achieving goals even though you have the talent to do so

• Difficulties with scheduling and planning

• Weakness of short term memory including losing things and forgetting things

• Interrupting others in conversation and difficulty following prolonged dialogues

• Waiting until the last moment to start projects

• Boredom, restlessness, and impatience

• Risk taking and a desire for stimulation

• Forgetting schedules, rushing and lateness

• Multiple incomplete projects and activities

• Impulsiveness and emotional frustration

• Inability to pick up social cues and respond accordingly

Welcome Brett from Canada to join us ! His link: https://psychask.com/expert/106

Brett is a certified ADHD Coach. His qualification includes ADHD Associate Coach (AAC), Communication & Advertising Accredited Professional (CAAP) and Business Administration Diploma.

To find out why he chose to end his career in business world and become and ADHD Coach, read more below about his own life story:

Hailing from the east coast of Canada I have spent my entire career studying and gaining insight into varied aspects of human behavior... originally working in the fields of marketing and communications, and most recently studying and working as an ADD/ADHD Coach. In 2010, after being diagnosed with ADHD at age 43, I began a process of self-exploration and renewal that led to what I now refer to as “Brett 2.0”. Realizing as a result of my late diagnosis that I had spent most of my life fighting the person I truly was inside, I decided that the key to re-writing my story would lie in the 3 Pillars I’ve come to call the “ADHD Trinity™” which consisted of identifying ways to better UNDERSTAND, ACCEPT and EMBRACE my ADHD. The Trinity™ led me to take a “Strength-Based” approach to my ADHD by finding ways to identify, maximize and capitalize on the natural talents and strengths it provided, while challenging the limiting beliefs and stories that had been part of my life for so long. Following a four-year period of self-discovery and re-evaluation that inspired a departure from my marketing career of nearly 20 years, I am now following my passion to assist other adults with ADHD who have a desire to re-write the story of their lives. As a Certified ADHD Coach, my personal insight, ADHD-specific coach training and experience enable me to provide my clients with the safe, non-judgmental space as well as the empathy and freedom required to fully explore and realize their natural talents and strengths. I also use insightful questioning and feedback to challenge existing assumptions and beliefs so that they may find within themselves new ways of focusing on desired action plans to help them move beyond the feeling of being stuck that so often accompanies ADD/ADHD.
