Istanbul Nights : It was getting late after shopping with Sarah at the Grand Bazaar near the Sultanahmet district. Gates were shuttering on storefronts and the streets were starting to get quiet, but we weren’t ready to head back to the hotel.

We walked several blocks from the tourist area only to find we were the last on the streets and far from anything familiar, plus NO UBERs. It possibly may not have been safe when I think back on it but ignorance is bliss and we were feeling adventurous! What could we discover while off the beaten path? What gem could we find?

Upon entering a restaurant there was no greeting, everyone seemed occupied and we felt out of place. Oh right, it was Ramadan! It was time for the locals to EAT!! So we left them alone and went down another dark alley toward a neon light at the end. As we approached the light we discovered a parking lot and an entrance to what seemed like a bar/restaurant. Only it was a ho**ah lounge!!

We went in and they directed us to the roof where we witnessed a view like no other we had experienced in Instanbul yet. Touristy places would cost almost $80-100 to experience this view but this gem cost us maybe $25 for a really good ho**ah, good vibes, a small meal and a local experience we’ll never forget. Try it sometime!!!
