Caymanian Jaxon Cover has just made history, becoming the first player raised in the Cayman Islands to be selected in the first round of the NHL Draft, going 32nd overall to the Ottawa Senators.
What makes his story even more inspiring? Jaxon didn’t even start playing ice hockey until he was 13 years old, making the transition from inline hockey to one of the most competitive sports in the world. His journey proves that there is no “right” timeline—only the one you’re willing to commit to.
