Over half the staff at a recent client organization experienced or witnessed harassment and told no one.
Not because they didn't know how. Because they didn't think it was safe, didn't know who to trust, came from a culture where speaking out was dangerous, and so many other reasons.
Reporting channels, no matter how amazing HR is (and this place has a truly wonderful group of people) don't fix a safety problem. Intentional, targeted, informed, culture work does.

I finally finished and published an article I've been working on for a while — and given the current moment we're all living through, I think the timing ended up being exactly right.
It asks a simple question: what if a little discomfort could change the world? And then tries to answer it honestly, including the parts that may challenge all of us — across every political identity, generation, and background.
It's about a concept known as the "right to comfort" — the unconscious belief that we deserve to feel emotionally comfortable at all times, even in conversations about bias, discrimination, or injustice. And what that costs all of us when it goes unchecked.
I'd love to know what resonates with you.

🚨 The problem isn’t the performance frameworks. It’s what happens after rollout.
For two decades, performance review systems have promised transformation:
✅ Objectivity
✅ Equity
✅ Engagement
✅ Better results
But what actually happens is more complicated.
Inconsistent implementation. Manager burnout. Bias. Lost trust. Leadership fatigue.
Our latest carousel breaks down the 20-year pattern of performance review “fads”—and the real reason meaningful change rarely sticks.
Leaders often chase the next “new” approach without pausing to assess what’s working, what isn’t, and how to build trust through follow-through.
At Kimberly A. MacLean Consulting, we help leadership teams break the pattern—by aligning systems with human behavior, emotional intelligence, and accountability.
