Discovering The Scene

I saw a video on YouTube once about getting views. They said, "The worst thing that you could do is ask people you know to watch your videos. Seems counterproductive right? Wrong! It actually lets YouTube find your audience for you." Now with me being a musician, I found this statement to be odd and indeed counter to everything I knew. You don't tell anyone, how is anyone going to know you exist? Hammer it into people's heads Discovering The Scene! Welp. I decided to test this theory with my recording project The Cycle Reborn. Just within a few days, I get better numbers than some of my videos ever could with just leaving it be. I am going to find that video and post a comment in support of it. 73 views is a small number, yes. But it's better than any number under it. Thinking about that number in real terms... 73 people in a small venue is a lot of people that came out to see your band. Friggin' nuts...

I tried to turn on the radio today and listen to what's going on... They are working overtime running people away from music. The music selection is turds and the fact it's like 1 song per 5 commercials.

Normally, I don't get into Rob Zombie because nothing really beat the White Zombie days or the Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe album... The rest of his music after HBD album was truly corporate, rushed, lifeless garbage for years afterwards. Here is an opinion and I am entitled to it. For those of you who know me well know that I have NEVER been a fan of Fender... I will never own one of their guitars or basses and will never even pick one up to move it out of the way of a good guitar or bass. If you enjoy playing them, I won't fight ya on it. Have fun with it! I did have a Presonus 64 channel board that I didn't know was owned by Fender but after using it and figured it out, it tracked (actually didn't, ha!)... As the years go by, it gets tougher and tougher to write original music it seems. There are only so many notes in a scale and metal will eventually repeat itself. I was watching Ola Englund today that Evanescence stole his riff. Okay, let's watch how he handles it. Basically it is the same riff just down tuned. But it isn't the fact that the riff may have been used, it's how Ola handled it. Give this short video a watch and this is how a musician that's a professional should conduct business.
