Horses get headaches too!

Reasoning depends on the individual horse. In this case it was a combination of physical and mental aspects that lead to Kiara's headache and overall body soreness.

Physical Aspects
- Post dental work
- Hard heat cycle
- Working on conditioning

Mental Aspects
- Having to share a turn out pen with Mazie

Kiara is an excellent example for keeping in mind that not all horses want to be turned out together in a group. She can tolerate short time periods of group turnout with my other horses, but she much prefers to have her own pen with the other horses near her. She's had to be in group turnout for the past month or so while I'm working on fixing my other turn outs and that has made her quite irritable.

Her physical aspects plus the emotional component built up and resulted in her having quite the headache.

These before/after pictures are from the same day, right before her session and then right after. The massive amounts of tension through her face have been relieved and she is feeling much better๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค—

When you're trying to determine the cause of your horse's tension, it's important to always evaluate both the physical and emotional contributing factors๐Ÿ’›
