Ventura County Fire Department CERT Training Drill Day. 110 CERT class members from Ojai, Oak Park, Simi Valley, and Camarillo demonstrating what we learned during the six week training on Medical, Fire, Disaster Triage, Incident Command, and Cribbing.

What is the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)?
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a free program that educates community members about disaster preparedness for hazards that could affect their area and trains them in basic response skills - including fire safety, search and rescue, and medical operations.
The CERT program is managed by the Ventura County Fire Department, who runs trainings sessions each year throughout the county.
The OVME community has it's own CERT Team made up of residents who have volunteered to assist officials in the event of an emergency that affects our community.

Upcoming CERT Training Options
Ventura County Fire Department in coordination with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have joined together to assist its' residents with disaster preparedness education and training.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program teaches community members about the potential disasters that could affect their area and how to safely and responsibly respond to them.
Completion of the CERT program requires approximately 24 hours of FREE training that educates volunteers in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, team organization, hazards that may impact their area, and disaster medical operations.
Each graduate receives a CERT disaster start-up pack including a helmet, gloves, vest and goggles along with their certificate of completion.
