A Gothic Blessing for Beloved Pets
When moonlight drapes the silent night
And shadows rest in silver light,
I call a shield both soft and strong
To guard my pets the whole night long.
By candle flame and midnight air,
Let peace surround them everywhere.
Keep illness far, keep fear away,
Bring comfort through the dark till day.
Let paws walk safely, hearts stay bright,
Let gentle dreams hold them tonight.
By love that binds and spirits true,
This blessing now I send to you.
Mote it be.

🕯️ The Word “Witch” Was Meant to Be Feared...
Not because of what it was, but because of what it threatened.
The word “witch” was never neutral. It was used to mark someone. To set them apart. To make others step back… or turn against them.
A “witch” was often someone who:
saw too clearly, spoke without shrinking, refused to live quietly inside what was expected....So the word was shaped into something dangerous. Something people were taught to fear. To reject. To distance themselves from...
Not because those people were evil, but because they were uncontrolled.
Fear has always been a tool. If you can make people afraid of something…you don’t have to understand it. You don’t have to face it. You only have to push it away.
And that’s what happened.
The word “witch” became a shadow placed on others so no one had to question their own discomfort.
Even now… You can feel it in the way the word lands. The hesitation. The assumptions. The quiet judgment that still lingers
But there’s something else there too... Something older.
Because the same word that was used to isolate, is now being chosen… deliberately. Not softened...
Chosen.
And that changes everything.
Some words carry history in them. “Witch” is one of them.

Familiars 🖤
Not every witch has a familiar.
And not every animal is meant to be one.
A familiar is not simply a pet, it is a spiritual companion.
A being who chooses to walk beside you.
Sometimes they arrive quietly.
A stray that appears at your door.
A cat that refuses to leave your altar.
A crow that watches you from the same tree every morning.
They are drawn to energy.
To intention.
To magic.
Historically, familiars were believed to assist witches in their workings… carrying messages between worlds, amplifying protection, and sensing what human eyes cannot.
But the bond is not commanded.
It is recognized.
If you have ever had an animal who seemed to understand you in a way that felt… otherworldly,
who stayed close during ritual, grief, or transformation — you may have already met yours.
Not owned.
Not summoned.
Chosen.
