If you've worked with me for a while then you probably know Aelin and Grim.
In April, Grim started to have struggles getting his back legs up after swimming, hiking, or any rigorous activity. Over the past month his legs have also started to shake just from standing for long periods.
As a German Shepherd, the big concern was possible hip dysplasia, so Aelin got his OFAs done. His hips came back fine, but in the process they discovered a congenital LTV spinal deformity. Essentially it appears that one of his spinal vertebre is trying to act like a tail vertebre. This is the most likely cause of these issues. His vet said the next step is to see a neurologist to check severity and why he is losing mobility.
Unfortunately Grim has had to be retired as a service dog, as well as from doing dock diving. Currently he is not allowed to do any rigorous activity.
The soonest he can get into a neurologist is out of state on June 18th. Needless to say, the travel out of state as well as getting an MRI for a dog is pricey!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
