Feel Real

Nineteen. I was nineteen when I wrote this. When you write a song so far from releasing it, the emotion and intention behind the lyrics can sometimes get blurry. Not this one. I can still see exactly where I was sitting in my parent’s apartment, stuffy nose, recording a little blurb for what became this song. A lot of Gave Enough was written out of spite, but over time, things like anger and resentment just kinda fade away for me. Like voice memos that got lost after getting a new phone, it’s not that the feelings never existed, I just grew up. In true feel real fashion, almost 10 years later we took a song that started off as a depressive, rage-filled ballad, and turned it into something I’m very proud of. It’s almost like the progression of this song reflects the true power and freedom that comes from healing your trauma thru music. Dance, sing, chant, bang on your steering wheel, this song is for people who do what they gotta do to get out, people who choose their happiness.
