Cockroaches have a bad reputation: dirty, disgusting, associated with trash. But surprisingly, they clean themselves immediately after touching a human. It’s not because we are dirty to them, but because they are sensitive to odors, oils, and microbes that are not part of them. They use their legs to groom their heads and wings, removing anything that feels unnatural. This shows they have an inner sense of cleanliness—a behavior that goes against the image we usually have of them. Cockroaches don’t want to keep our traces; they want to remain “themselves.”

China has begun producing a new type of battery that combines liquid and solid technologies, known as semi-solid batteries.
