HB 1021 is on the move! ✅
Proud to share that my bill, Medication Administration by Pharmacists, has officially PASSED its last committee and is now headed to the House Floor.
This legislation is rooted in a simple truth, when life-threatening emergencies happen in our hospitals… seconds matter.
HB 1021 makes sure that in those critical moments, highly trained pharmacists in trauma centers can step in, under physician direction, to administer emergency medications, ensuring that every second is used to save a life.
Because when seconds matter, we should be doing everything possible to help patients survive and recover.
On to the House Floor. Let’s keep working.

✅ PASSED on the House Floor
Proud to share that House Bill 1021 has passed the Florida House. This legislation expands the ability of pharmacists to administer medications in emergency situations, helping ensure patients receive care when every second matters.
This is about delivering for the people and protecting their health, strengthening access to care, and making sure our healthcare system works when Floridians need it most.
Grateful to my colleagues and healthcare advocates who helped move this forward.

A measure to impose state regulations on pronoun use for public-sector employees and contractors was approved in its first committee stops in both the Florida Senate and House this week.
The “Freedom of Conscience in the Workplace Act” (SB 1642/HB 641) says that state and local government employers and contractors can’t take disciplinary action against an employee or contractor because of their “deeply held religious, moral, conscience-based, or biology-based beliefs against gender ideology.”
It bans as a condition of employment for an employer to require any training, instruction, or any other activity regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. And it says that job applications and similar employment forms cannot provide a nonbinary option on questions of a person’s gender….
Quoting a portion of a Labriola social media post that resulted in his termination, Rep. RaShon Young, D-Orlando, said Thursday in the House Government Operations Subcommittee that “no employer should be forced by the state to retain someone whose words undermine the integrity and safety and mission of their workplace.

Had a fun time stepping up to the plate with the Florida Professional Firefighters for their annual charity softball game ⚾️
Republicans vs. Democrats, but all heart and all for a great cause. Proud to hit the field for the first time as a member of the Florida Legislature!
Today at the Florida Capitol, I stood shoulder to shoulder with my fellow Black Democratic legislators to speak out against the Florida Attorney General’s opinion.
Justice is not flexible. The law is not seasonal. And truth does not bend to political pressure. When confusion is introduced where clarity already exists, we cannot back down. We must stand tall, speak plainly, and push back, because leadership demands courage, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to justice for all.

The first week of Legislative Session marked a powerful beginning as I was officially sworn in!
