Day 30 of // “Never forget why you came here.”
These days
And today, maybe especially
Are so incredibly emotion-filled
I don’t feel particularly poetic today so I’m just going to make an abridged list of things that took up space in my world today to illustrate—
:: Thinking about my dad a lot as I have been going through boxes of childhood keepsakes and reading cards he wrote me throughout the years and learning more about him today than I ever could have at the time he wrote me those cards
:: Thinking about who I used to be as a teenager as I read old notes from myself and wondering how much of her I still carry around with me
:: Thinking about the handful of people I need to text back, but for some reason I haven’t yet
:: Navigating the news cycle just in terms of caring about my fellow humans but also being very sensitive to the energy that accompanies big news days and also learning how to navigate my own energy through all of it
:: Spending all day thinking I should go outside for a run or a walk and then not doing it because navigating time management on my own between a full time job / multiple personal projects / a big upcoming life change / taking care of myself and my cat and my living space / getting appropriate rest / finding moments to relax and be joyful all in a day, each and every day, for the past year during this pandemic when human contact has been so limited is a lot (maybe this is why it’s hard to sometimes text people back)
:: Thinking about my taxes that I still need to finish 👀
Just an abridged list.
In the beautiful mess of it all
This nutty thing we call life
Let us never forget why we came —
To be the light-filled beings that we are
To be the love that we wish to see
To be the joy that comes natural to our souls
💫
Today is also technically day 31;
But I wrote this yesterday,
Again as I fell asleep (lol)
I said it once and I’ll say it again, consistency sits with a bit of contradiction to a sensitive soul — what can I say 🤷♀️
Anyway,
May your heart be light today 💕
May you be more you today than you’ve ever been before 🌸
All love,
Cristina

It was not so long ago that I would feel constantly overwhelmed by life and all of the things that come with it—feeling like there was just too much to do, too many texts or emails to reply to, too many people wanting my attention (like sometimes even just one was too many), too many emotions to figure out, just TOO much, you know?
No one ever told me that being very sensitive doesn’t go hand in hand with a lot of the modern lifestyles we live.
The amount of constant distraction and things vying for our attention is, quite honestly, absolute insanity.
We don’t talk about this with any regularity or consistency as a society, however it’s vital to acknowledge all of the ways in which being sensitive can be met with friction and tension, because once you start to do that, you will realize just how important it is to proactively find ways to calm your nervous system so that you can actually experience the joy that we are all immensely capable of feeling.
Spending time in nature, just looking at the ways the elements and pieces all interact with each other—how the sun’s rays light up the mountain, or how the ocean’s waves hug the rocks on shore—all help bring a sense of calm and connection.
And from that space, we are able to give more, love more, and remember the absolute joy that is always available to us just because it’s who we really are beneath all of the weight and overwhelm that’s so easily piled on.
Shared with love and a hope (and lil push) that you are thinking about and exploring ways to create calm in your own life ♥️
