How I made $40,000 on ONE card in 12 hours

The 2022 Atlantic City National Card Show. This is a story I’ll never forget.

It’s 11PM at the Tropicana Hotel. Most people are winding down for the night, heading to bed, calling it a day. But in this hobby, the best deals don’t happen on the show floor during business hours. They happen late at night, through the right relationships and the right conversations most people never get to be a part of.

A friend of mine gives me a heads up. There’s a guy who owns a card shop out in Cleveland. He brought a Justin Herbert card to the show, sent it through Beckett, and it came back a 9.5. My friend tells me the guy is looking to sell. That is all I needed to hear.

I already knew what that card was worth. So at 11PM, I made the deal. No showroom, no fancy setup, just the right information and the willingness to move on it when most people were already asleep.

With that Beckett 9.5 in hand, the card was now worth $70,000. From a late night tip to a $70,000 asset in a matter of hours.

But here’s where it gets crazy. The very next morning, by 10AM, less than 12 hours after I bought it, I flipped that same card for $110,000.

A $40,000 profit. Overnight. On a single piece of cardboard.

Now I’m not telling you this to brag. I’m telling you this because moments like this are exactly why I fell in love with this hobby. The opportunity is real. But it only shows up for the people who build the right relationships, who know what they’re looking at, and who are ready to move when the moment comes.

The people sleeping missed it. The people who did not know values missed it. I did not.

That is the difference. That is the game.
