One of my favorite Thoreau quotes is “If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.”
What is your dream, with your horse or some other dream? If it seems elevated and out of reach, what could be a "foundation" step you could take to move it from the sky to grounded in reality?

Meal planning is a critical part of maintaining fitness for me, but there are those nights when, no matter what I've planned, I run out of time to cook (or sometimes I just don't want to!). That's why part of my planning is to make extra of dishes that freeze well and keep a few of those dishes in the freezer to have handy.
These pasta shells are one of my favorites to keep on hand. They're delicious, filling, and the cottage cheese filling and tomato sauce keep things light.

Inspiring! The point is not to start jogging—it’s that thought she had —“I bet I can do better tomorrow.” Yes. We all can do that!
She was 48 years old, overweight and addicted to ci******es.
When Sister Marion Irvine, a Dominican nun and school principal in San Rafael, Calif., decided to try jogging on Memorial Day in 1978, she didn’t own running shorts. So she rummaged through the school’s lost-and-found and grabbed a pair of men’s shorts.
Sister Marion’s plan was to jog 2 miles. Almost immediately, she was gasping for breath. She ended up walking about half way. Afterward, in the shower, she felt sore all over.
And she had a prophetic thought: “I bet I can do better tomorrow.”
Within two years, she was winning races against much younger runners. A Nike sponsorship paid for shoes and travel. In December 1983, at age 54, she ran a marathon in two hours and 51 minutes to qualify for the 1984 Olympic trials. Though she didn’t make the Olympic team, her time set a record for women over 50.
Sister Marion, who died Aug. 30 at the Dominican Convent in San Rafael, Calif., at the age of 95, was a media sensation in the 1980s, featured on national TV programs and known as “the Running Nun” or “Flying Nun.”
“It was the idea that I was old, I was a nun, and I was fast,” she said, recalling her unsought celebrity at a runners’ gathering last year. She credited her genes and the discipline she learned as a nun and educator.

Hello to my new and old followers! I wanted to
introduce myself for those of you who don't know me.
My name is Joan Rasmussen, and I'm a retired accountant and a horse lover who is passionate about being the best possible partner to my horses.
🌟
A little about my story: After years behind a desk and always battling my weight, I realized that the extra pounds were not doing either me or my horse any favors. Finally one day, at the age of 63, I had had enough, buckled down, did the work and dropped 60 pounds over the course of a year. I also started a fitness program and the results were amazing! For the first time in my life, I could shop for clothes, including those cute riding tights, and look in the dressing room mirror without crying. And the improvement in my riding was immense. Still riding and staying fit nearly 10 years later!
Here are some fun facts about me:
- I ran a marathon at the age of 47.
- I grew up on an egg farm in California.
- I’m pursuing my dream of riding horses around the world. So far, Iceland and Switzerland, with Spain on my radar.
I’m on a mission to help other older riders get and stay fit enough to keep riding as they age. We can stay strong, flexible and confident in the saddle!
The picture is the view from the back of the Swiss Mountain Horse, Zulk, who was my ride through the Swiss Alps a couple months ago.
