Holiday memory...every so often I make these special, multi-step traditional Linzer cookies.

Special, not only because they're delicious, but because when I was 12 and moved to yet another new neighborhood I was lucky enough to have a 13 year old girl living next door who quickly became a best friend.

She and I began making treks several blocks to the local Woolworth's store to buy birthday and holiday gifts or little treats for ourselves with our allowance. Cheryl introduced me to the bakery in the same plaza by asking, "Have you ever had a Linzer cookie?"

When I said 'no' she insisted I had to try one. So the two of us purchased our Linzer cookies - an almond shortbread with raspberry jam filling - and walked home with huge powdered sugar smiles on our faces! I was hooked and after that we always made Linzer cookies part of our outings.

Last year I was sad to learn that Cheryl passed away a few years ago so I made these in honor of her and to relive those happy memories.

Thank you Cheryl for the gift of yours and your family's friendship and for introducing me to such a delectable treat πŸŽπŸ’

We may not vote the same way, but kindness doesn't need a party. Wishing each of you peace, joy, and good health. We're all in this together.

In my lifetime I have watched as the persecuted became the persecutor (many ethnicities involved) and I've never understood this, but witnessing it has made me who I am - someone who does her best to see the pain beneath the persecution and the love in each heart. Citizens against citizens and cancel culture does nothing to support our well-being.

I wear purple today to signify that I love you whether you wear red or blue because I believe - for the most part - that we all want the same things...health, happiness, peace, fulfillment, a safe home, and good food. And nothing can take anything away from us when we are truly caring and compassionate toward each person who crosses our path.

The poem below resonates. It took my breath away as I witnessed the poet herself read it with great emotion and passion...a caring, compassionate individual who gifts us all with her art. Thank you Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer. πŸ™πŸ’–πŸͺΆβœ¨ Please click on the poem to see it larger!

Because I now have this glorious new hat, I had to show it off. Here's a funny Halloween story from yours truly (though it's hard to see the hat in the video)! Link in comments.

Do you think the story is okay for kids? I don't know what kids can handle these days because I was a big chicken when I was a child! πŸ˜±πŸ”

Thanks ahead of time for your answer! πŸ‘»πŸ‘Ώβ˜ οΈ

This sounds like a plan! I think my purple hair would look great done up like this, don't you? πŸ˜‚πŸ’œ
