If you’re in Philly or South Jersey, you know our spring weather doesn't mess around. To keep your foundation solid and your basement mold-free, you need to know the 4-Foot Rule.
It’s simple: Make sure your downspouts are carrying water at least four feet away from your home’s foundation. Anything closer and you're basically just inviting that water to come inside and hang out in your crawlspace. It’s the easiest DIY "upgrade" you can do this weekend to save yourself from massive foundation headaches and mold growth later.
Your basement should be for storage or a movie room, not a swamp. Grab an extension, kick that water to the curb, and stay dry!
