Porch ceilings painted blue serve different purposes depending upon who you ask. In the South, “Haint Blue” is said to ward off evil Spirits. In the mid-Atlantic region, many believe blue ceilings keep wasps and hornets from building nests. And, those admirers of Craftsman bungalows, know from author Myrna Kaye, that blue ceilings along with either grey or green porches were all supposed to represent “the outdoors” and is a further extension of the Craftsman desire to connect to nature.
