I was honored to give the welcome at this year’s Neshoba County Fishing Rodeo—an event that I, along with so many others in our community, look forward to each year.
This special day is a great reminder of how important it is to get our kids outdoors, enjoying God’s creation, and making memories that will last a lifetime. Events like this help introduce young people to fishing in a fun, safe environment while also teaching them about conservation and the outdoors.
I want to thank the hardworking and dedicated volunteers who make this event such a success year after year. Your time and effort do not go unnoticed.
A special thank you to Ms. Sherrie Hazelwood for her leadership and organization of this great event. Her work has helped make opportunities like this possible for so many young people in our community.
I also want to recognize the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks for their continued support. As someone who serves on the Senate committee that works closely with this department, I appreciate the role they play in promoting outdoor recreation and conservation across Mississippi.
It’s always good to see our community come together, and I’m already looking forward to next year!

Rep. Bounds and I had the honor of visiting Neshoba Central High School to recognize the incredible cheer team for their outstanding accomplishments!
This talented group of young ladies completed an undefeated season, earning both the MHSAA State Championship and the NCA High School National Championship in the Advanced Non-Tumbling Game Performance Division—a remarkable achievement that has made our entire community proud.
We were proud to present them with an official resolution congratulating them on their hard work, dedication, and success.
During the presentation, I shared a few words about the importance of teamwork, supporting one another, and continuing to strive for excellence. I also thanked them for being such strong role models. As the father of a five-year-old daughter, I appreciate having young women like these for her to look up to and be inspired by.
Congratulations again to these champions—on and off the mat. Keep up the great work and continue setting the standard for others to follow!
A message from the MDOT Executive Director Brad White.

It was an honor to welcome the Winston Academy Patriots to the Capitol as they celebrate their 2025 MAIS Class 2A Division II State Football Championship!
This was truly a storybook season—one filled with adversity and challenges—but they never backed down and ultimately prevailed as State Champions, defeating Oak Hill Academy 20-0 on November 22, 2025.
I’m incredibly proud of these young men and their coaches for their hard work, resilience, and dedication. They are making our community proud every single day.
