PART 2 - DON PUSHES ON

I first posted about Don in March 2026.

Three months later, with continued coaching, Don is down nearly 25 pounds and lowered his A1C two points.

THEN:

He bought a Fitbit.
Started walking consistently.
Started getting to the gym.

It wasn’t perfect.
It wasn’t overnight.
It was continued buy-in and commitment.

The language we use around change matters.

“I’m not the type of person who eats breakfast.”“I’m not the type of person who packs lunch.”“I’m not the type of person who meal preps.”

When you keep reinforcing that identity, your habits usually follow it.

If you’re never willing to become the type of person who does the things that support your goals, it becomes very hard to reach those goals.

Performance, health, energy, blood sugar, and body composition all start with repeated actions — not the stories we keep telling ourselves about who we are.

Performance means different things to different people.

For some people it’s strength.
For others it’s energy, recovery, focus, consistency, resilience, or simply feeling more in control physically and mentally throughout the week.

Nutrition impacts all of it.

The problem is most people are trying to improve performance with random strategies pulled from social media, podcasts, or whatever trend is circulating that week.

Even professional athletes have coaches.

At some point, your nutrition has to become more intentional.

Great spending time with the pre-professional students at School of Philadelphia Ballet following their spring performance.

We focused on hydration and recovery—but the bigger conversation was how nutrition supports performance across long rehearsal days, demanding schedules, and the physical stress that comes with high-level training.

I’m lucky to work with an impressive group of students and in an incredible new facility built to support that level of work.

Dancers are athletes.
Why doesn’t every pre-professional company have a dietitian helping fuel training, recovery, and performance?
