I went look at store, that said they worked with local artist. A catalog of over 40 artist.
10 hour drive to have meet, to find out they actually only carry mass produced products.

I was angry and insulted.
Angry because they called themselves a gallery.

Baking Soda Crystal Growing Tree

You'll Need:
Paper Christmas tree cutouts
(Two matching pieces with slits so they interlock and stand upright work best. Cardstock or thick paper gives the strongest results.)
Tray, shallow bowl, or glass dish
Epsom salt (recommended for fast, dramatic crystal growth)
You may substitute baking soda or table salt, but crystals will grow slower and less fluffy
Warm water
Food coloring (multiple colors)
Small cups for mixing colors
Paintbrush or dropper
Scissors and markers (optional, for decorating the tree beforehand)

Step-by-Step:
1. Make the Paper Tree
Cut two identical Christmas tree shapes from thick paper or cardboard.
Cut a slit halfway up from the bottom of one tree.
Cut a slit halfway down from the top of the second tree.
Slide the two pieces together to form a standing 3D tree.
Place the tree in the center of a tray or shallow dish.

2. Prepare the Crystal Solution:
This supersaturated solution is key for crystal growth.
Pour ½ cup warm water into a container.
Slowly add Epsom salt while stirring constantly.
Keep adding salt until no more dissolves (usually ¾–1 cup).
A small amount of undissolved salt at the bottom means the solution is fully saturated.
Let the solution cool slightly for 1–2 minutes.

3. Mix the Rainbow Colors:
Set out 4–6 small cups.
Add 2 tablespoons of the crystal solution to each cup.
Add 1–3 drops of food coloring to each cup (one color per cup).
Stir gently.
4. Add the Solution to the Tree:
Pour 2–3 tablespoons of clear (untinted) crystal solution into the tray around the base of the tree.
Using a paintbrush or dropper, dab the colored solutions onto different areas of the tree:
Blue near the bottom
Green above the base
Yellow in the middle
Orange or red toward the top
Pink or purple on the tips
As the paper absorbs the liquid, the crystals begin forming and climbing upward.

5. Let the Magic Happen:
Place the tray in a warm, dry, undisturbed area.
First crystals appear in 15–30 minutes.
Full, fluffy rainbow crystal growth takes 4–12 hours.
As the crystals grow, colors blend naturally, creating a stunning rainbow Christmas tree effect. 01/03/2026
