This prequel film focuses on Aragorn's mission to hunt Gollum before the events of the main trilogy.

It will be released in theaters on December 17, 2027.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Then & Now

Released in 2001 and directed by Peter Jackson, The Fellowship of the Ring introduced audiences to Middle-earth and launched one of the most celebrated trilogies in film history.

Adapted from J. R. R. Tolkien’s novel, the story follows Frodo Baggins, played by Elijah Wood, as he leaves the Shire and begins a dangerous mission to destroy the One Ring.

The film brought together an unforgettable cast, including Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Sean Bean as Boromir, and Sean Astin as Samwise Gamgee.

We also remember Ian Holm, whose warm and memorable portrayal of Bilbo Baggins remains an important part of the story. Rest in peace.
