I started preparing my garden for the season today, and what did I find but two little spinach plants returning from last fall. Spinach is a hardy plant. It can survive temperatures as low as 20 degrees. I did not winterize these plants. I simply left them at the end of the season last year. After such a prolonged and extremely frosty winter with lots of snow, I did not have a lot of hope that any spinach plants would return. How wrong I was. In a world of sorrow and pain, be the spinach. Be resilient and hardy. Even if you need to go dormant for a while, itβs ok, you can find your strength again.
This is why we need to foster this resilience in ourselves. Learning when to forge ahead and when to take a break. When to ask for help and when to lend a hand. Be the spinach. The current state of affairs is going to be long slough. AND remember to take care of each.
